How do i ask my mom to get me birth control?

Im 16 year old girl and Im not exactly sure how to ask my mom for birth control. Im not having sex and Im not planning on having sex but I want it just incase because you never know what could happen. Girls get rapped everyday and I just want to be protected if something were to happen. Should I just tell her that?
